The Mandolin-Orchestra of Niederkassel (Rhineland) was founded in 1920. Richard Neff took over the conductorship of the orchestra from his father Peter Neff in 1954. Through very intensive personal engagement, he succeeded to enhance the musical level of the orchestra in an enormous manner, especially by refinements and arrangements as well as own compositions.

German radio stations as Südwestfunk, WDR and Deutschlandfunk often broadcast our records. The orchestra performed in German TV-shows as “Ein Platz an der Sonne", "Eure Heimat, unsere Heimat" and "Der große Preis".

The encounter of the orchestra with Dr. Pieris Zarmas (bariton at the Bonn Opera) inaugurated a new musical age. Several corporate performances happened in the castle of Schwetzingen, rose garden of Mannheim, Beethoven hall of Bonn, at Stuttgart an at other locations. Dr. Zarmas brought together the orchestra with the ARIS-Choir from Limassol (Cyprus).

The orchestra carried out several journeys to Cyprus as result of this friendship with the ARIS-Choir, connected with common performances at Paphos, Nicosia and Limassol. Further more, the orchestra had performances in Neuchâtel (Swiss), several concerts in the Philharmonic hall of Cologne and the Beethoven hall of Bonn, the European weeks at Passau and other.
